BOLONIA

Bolonia, a corner of living nature on the coast of Cadiz. Famous for its large sand dune of more than 30 meters high declared a Natural Monument in 2001. A magical place between Punta Camarinal and Punta Paloma, on the way to Tarifa. A place to get lost, a corner of the world surrounded by natural parks such as El Parque Natural del Estrecho, Las Sierras de la Higuera or Loma de San Bartolomé. A totally unspoiled haven of calm that also has centuries of history reflected in the Archaeological Ensemble of Baelo Claudia. This national monument represents a Roman factory-city of which impresses especially its state of preservation. During the summer months, in the open-air Roman amphitheater, events are held within the framework of the days of Festivals and Roman Theaters of Andalusia: concerts, dance and theater among other things; all a cultural enjoyment for the sunset. Because of its scenic value and because it is located in the Natural Park, in this area the construction is very limited, just a few cottages scattered throughout the area; neighbors very aware of a sustainable lifestyle and mostly engaged in fishing, livestock or work in the field. No big hotels or housing developments. If you are lucky enough to venture into this neighborhood, you may be able to taste the wonderful cheeses made from local goats produced by the inhabitants of this small town.

The beach is a treasure, a jewel of crystalline waters and white sand. It is one of the most beautiful beaches you can visit, but don't be scared if you find any Retinto cows wandering around the beach; they are regular bathers in these lands. They have a good eye for choosing where to live and share with locals and visitors beach days, kite-surfing show very typical of this area .... A symbiosis of total respect that although it will seem curious and will impress you at first, you will learn to understand and appreciate. The nature of Bolonia is preserved thanks to the strong easterly winds and winter storms; the passage of sand inland is prevented by the mediation of the pine trees that were planted for that purpose around the dune. Towards the town of Tarifa walking, there is a route of natural pools created by the rocks themselves that, at low tide are filled with water where you can enjoy a few hours of absolute tranquility while we glimpse how much nature surrounds us. In summer, above all, it is an area of considerable affluence. Visitors from all corners come to Bolonia guided by the great attraction and good reputation it has nationally and internationally. Outside the months of July and August, when the number of visitors is notably reduced, it is highly recommended to visit.

In the same beach area there is a wide range of beach bars where you can taste the local products. The great raw material that is worked here as fresh fish and seafood from the bay are tasted in a thousand ways: skewers, tartares, grilled, grilled... And the meats, what can we say about the local "retinto" meats? Well, you simply have to try them, just come and taste this delicacy. Also here, as in the surrounding area, the typical stews and "potajes" are almost never missing in the kitchens and restaurants. And let's not forget the homemade desserts. You always have to leave room for dessert. After a day of beach, beach bars, routes up and down dunes, conversations with the Retinto cows and "pescaito frito" (fried fish); maybe a concert at sunset is the best way to end the day. And you know what? We have those here too.
