TARIFA

The "Tarifa Universe" as many of us know it, is a place where we find an independent, natural and carefree way of life. A lifestyle that has conquered above all the foreign tourism. This corner of the world is quite famous for its Levante wind that, although when it is strong, brings us "crazy heads" as we usually say around here; it helps the realization of many sports activities such as kitesurfing or windsurfing. The municipality participates in four protected natural areas: Natural Park of Los Alcornocales, Natural Park of the Strait, Playa de los Lances and Natural Monument Duna de Bolonia. A full-fledged natural epicenter.

The historic center and its well-preserved medieval walls, make this town, a place with a particular charm; the Andalusian architectural origin of its narrow passages, small squares and streets dotted with bars brings a special atmosphere to the environment Tarifeño. At all hours of the day, especially during the summer months, this town is full of people, its never empty streets are filled with visitors and locals who enjoy every moment of the day either shopping in one of the many craft shops, having a few beers with friends, strolling through narrow streets or "taking the fresh air" when the sun goes down. In many of the locals we can enjoy spectacular breakfasts based on fresh produce, fresh juices and homemade pastries to note. This is the main basis of the Tarifeño's diet, since what comes next requires energy: beach, sport, laughter... If we want to add a hiking route to our plan, we are in luck because we are in an area with multiple options: - On the coast, we have the area of Pelayo, which gives us majestic views of Africa. - A few kilometers from the village, we also find the Sendero de San Bartolomé, towards Playa de Bolonia, a beautiful route that, in addition, if you are lovers of climbing offers perfect walls for it; once up, the feeling of freedom and peace is full, complete serenity. On one side, the views give the incredible Duna de Bolonia, and on the other side we find Valdevaqueros Beach and Los Lances Beach; both surely offering a kite show between waves and sky.

With its excellently served port, Tarifa is able to offer a whole range of boating activities, too. Not only can you catch a ferry from here to Morocco and land within 45 minutes of leaving the town, you can also take a trip to experience whale and dolphin watching. From here you can see the whales as they migrate through the straits between seas. There are so many emperors of the sea to witness from here, and there is a boat trip for everyone who wishes to see them.

If our vacation can not miss the adventures, we can add whale watching to the travel plan; from the port, several boats throughout the day sail with the aim of offering everyone on board, the chance to see with their own eyes some other cetacean as dolphins or, if we are lucky, some larger specimens such as whales that cross the strait on their migratory routes from the Mediterranean to the Atlantic or vice versa. But the adventures do not end here, we can take them to an international level if we have time and desire; from Tarifa, we can take a ferry that takes us to the Moroccan port of Tangier. Once there, we can spend the day immersed in the culture of this country, taste its gastronomy, buy crafts in their markets, spices, etc.. If we go to Tarifa, we will not only be enjoying Europe, we will be enjoying the whole world because, luckily, this corner of the world is home to many cultures, many languages and hundreds of traditions. A native population that welcomes and hosts everyone who needs to breathe, feel and feel all the beauty of the south, splashed by the sea, its waves and its freedom.
